Spartan Spotlight

Spartan Spotlight, Bixby Public School’s news hotspot, is provided as a service to Bixby stakeholders, community members and families. Prior to the fall of 2013, the Spartan Spotlight newsletter was mailed quarterly. Going digital allows us to better communicate, in a more timely and cost efficient manner, about news from all of our school locations, information about programs, bond issues, events, academic results, photos, videos and happenings in and out of our school organization.

This website is your news hotspot, and best source for Bixby Public School news and information. Hotspot has two meanings. Initially, Bixby Public Schools is an area with significant activity. We are a growing district for a growing community. Next a hotspot is a place that offers Internet access over a wireless local area network. This website can be viewed on many platforms, from computers to pads to phones.

Thank you for your interest in Bixby Public Schools and its impact on our growing community.

Bixby is a close-knit and welcoming community of approximately 20,000 residents in northeast Oklahoma. Situated just 15 minutes south of Tulsa, Bixby is one of the fastest growing cities in the state, and the second fastest growing in the Tulsa metro region, Bixby offers an excellent public school system, numerous parks, yearly festivals, art shows, quality neighborhoods, friendly small town feel and an array of activities for community members to enjoy.

As the public school district for this community, Bixby Public Schools is proud of its commitment to excellence in education and its student achievement. Such commitment to excellence comes in part from Bixby’s strong community spirit, where our citizens are proud of their youth and show great support for the district’s academic growth, athletics and fine arts.

The schools are organized into four separate grade groupings–elementary schools, intermediate grade level schools, middle school and high school.  The schools in our system are organized as follows:

  • Central Elementary:  Grades Pre-K through 3rd Grade
  • Central Intermediate:  Grades 4, 5, and 6
  • North Elementary:  Grades Pre-K through 3rd Grade
  • North Intermediate:  Grades 4 through 6
  • Northeast Elementary & Intermediate: Grades Pre-K through 6
  • Bixby  Middle School:  Grades 7 and 8
  • Bixby High School:  Grades 9 through 12

We are in the process of building one new school in our district:

  • 9th Grade Center:  This school will be located on the north side of the high school campus, to the immediate north of the BPS Technology Department.  The 9th Grade Center is scheduled to open in 2014 and will focus on 9th grade students, curriculum, and instruction.

All schools are fully accredited by the State of Oklahoma. Bixby High School is also accredited by the North Central Association and according to U.S. News and World Report, Bixby High School ranks 14th in the state.
