Spartan Academy students spent the day at the Port of Catoosa for the “Who Works the Rivers” career job fair.  The purpose of the event was to inform students about the job opportunities available in the maritime industry.  Approximately 150 students from surrounding schools attended the event, where students spoke with representatives from the Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Coast Guard, the National Weather Service, and other companies that provide services for the Port of Catoosa.  The day ended with a ride on a barge after a picnic lunch.  The BLC would like to extend a big “Thank You” to Shelia Shook, maritime education coordinator for the Port of Catoosa and others who took time out of their work day to host the event.
