Last week, Ms. Yeldell’s students traveled through the nutrient cycles as a water or carbon molecule. Each student had to assume the role of a water molecule or a carbon molecule and figure out where they needed to go next based on a roll of a dice. They could move freely among animals, industry, in the ocean or atmosphere or they could just as easily get trapped in a glacier or decaying matter. It was a fun way to learn about the water and carbon cycles in an active way. Students were required to make a paper chain as they moved through the cycle so they could answer questions and explain to each other how their cycled traveled.
