Not only will Central Intermediate welcome new students on August 18th, but there will also be new faces in the teaching staff at CI.

Joanie Simmermaker, one of the new speech pathologists at Central Intermediate, is from Arkansas.  She graduated with her Masters from University of Tulsa this past May. She has a new chocolate lab puppy named Florence.  She also loves traveling, visiting Africa, India, Europe, and Honduras.  Her favorite hobbies are running, swimming, and yoga.

Macee Nolan is another new speech pathologists at Central Intermediate.  She was born in Tahlequah and went to the University of Arkansas, which makes her a Hogs fan. (Woo Pig Sooie!)  She has a corgi named Wrigley and loves to read books.  Her favorite time of year is fall.

Bonnie Moriarty is a new member of the 6th grade team, teaching Social Studies.  She comes to us by way of Boston, Massachusetts– so she loves the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox …and “lobstah” and saying “wicked cool”.  She graduated college from Providence College in Rhode Island – the smallest state of the 50 states – where she met my husband Pat and played field hockey for four years as a Lady Friar.  She loves snow skiing- so any long weekend in the winter she will be in Colorado. She has three great kids, a dog named Duffy, and a fat cat named Bill.  She loves to run 1/2 marathons which helps with her love of Chinese food and gummy bears.

6th grade math teacher, Adam Dan, grew up in Prague, Oklahoma.  He is married to Paige Dan who works in LifeKids at LifeChurch Jenks.  He has a small rescue dog, Kaiju.  He has lived and taught in China, South Korea, and now he is back in Oklahoma.  He also loves playing nerdy board games.

Charles Wigington, our new special education teacher, has been a teacher for 21+ years, 18 in Tulsa area.  He grew up in Tennessee, and has lived in Oklahoma, Colorado, and California. He has taught music, math, and Special Ed. He is married to Deanna.  He is also the proud father of two adult children, including one son with special needs.

Brandy Owens joins the CI team as our music teacher. She plays cello and loves video games.  She is a hardcore Dallas Cowboys fan!  She is also highly allergic to shellfish and one of her hidden talents is she can name that tune usually in 5 notes.

Cheryl Wilkinson is a returning staff member in a new position of Title I Reading teacher. She’s been married for 20 years to her wonderful husband, Matt, who is a commercial lender for Mabrey Bank.  Her kids are Matthew and Emilie, an incoming senior and freshman at Bixby High School.  She studied special and elementary education at Harding University, and received her Masters in Reading from NSU.  She attends a daily crossfit class, which she loves, and she’s an avid reader.  She also enjoys traveling, camping, OSU football and following St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Katy Blair is a fiber fanatic–she knits, cross stitches, crochets, and is learning how to weave. She is a gamer, video and board. She has two black and white dogs, so she’s always covered in dog hair. She is a technology enthusiast. And her position as the new Media Specialist means she clearly loves to read!

Courtney Epps joins us as our new Accelerated Math teacher in 5th and 6th grade. She grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and has played golf for 20 years.  She graduated from Northeastern State University.  This is her 5th year of teaching.  She won the Lone Star Conference Tournament as an individual in 2008.

Krissy Dennis is another returning face to CI, but in a new position – teaching 5th grade reading and math.  She is a Bixby native who loves singing.  She loves baking and has her own  cupcake business on the side.  She loves reading. She has been married 16 years with two daughters.
