Our second graders spent two weeks learning about owls.  In our owl unit, students were involved with activities before and after the dissection. Students discussed the habitat of owls; their specific adaptations that help them survive in their habitat, and the importance of preserving owl habitats. We ended our owl unit with the dissection of the pellet.  We had an amazing time dissecting with our buddy classes.  The students enjoyed the hands-on way to learn about the eating habits of birds of prey. They explored, sorted and pieced together the bones inside the owl pellets.
